10 things people may not know about me...
Hello,
I am so fortunate this year with all of you who are interested in my art and the classes I teach. I thought it would be fun to share a list of ten things people may not know about me. Let me know if any of this surprises you ;)
I was born in Texas and all my extended family are still there.
I lived in in the Republic of South Africa as a 17/18 year old as a Rotary International Exchange Student. It was a very formative year.
I have an undergraduate degree in business, and still fulfilled all pre-med requirements. I was swayed by my parents to think of being a doctor as my back up plan.
I am particularly squeamish. I can’t watch anything gory or bloody. So instead of going on to med school, I went and got a Master’s of Architecture instead.
In college I was the photo editor for my college newspaper and photography was my “artistic” hobby in my teens.
My master’s thesis was about Almodad religious architecture in Spain.
I am dyslexic, but still love to read. I am just very slow at it.
I was an architect for 9 years
I told my husband when I turned 30 that I wanted to leave architecture and become an artist. And being a great, supportive husband, his response was to make a five-year plan.
Three weeks before turning 35, I left architecture to become a full-time artist. It has been the best decision I have ever made right after marrying the best guy in the world. And then having the best daughter in the world.
So did any of these surprise you? Maybe, maybe not?
