In and Out of the Garden Exhibition
On Monday with the help of two talented art friends, we curated and hung my exhibition at the Historic House at Green Spring Gardens Center.
It’s been over a year in the making and I am honored to have my work hanging in such an intimate space surrounded by such beautiful grounds. Green Spring Gardens Center is a treasure of the Fairfax County park system with a large horticultural center and a variety of demonstration gardens.
Being that so much of my work is inspired by gardening, I feel so fortunate that this location offers up exhibition space to local artists and art groups.
One of the things of this exhibition is that it has given me the opportunity to show a variety of my work. Included in the selection are three of my copys from the NGA. My most recent copy, the Artist's Garden at Vethueil by Claude Monet, and my first copy, Vase of Flowers by Jan Davidsz de Heem.
Also included are several different still-life paintings, some from this year and others dating back to 2009, the first year I was a full-time artist.
And I love how this space provides opportunities to showcase my work in such a domestic space.
This corner holds my copy of Miss Juliana Willoughby by George Romney and one of my large-scale pleinair still-life paintings, Set for Four. Along with two smaller still lifes. While further along the wall I have hung some of my graphite drawings of roses.
Here are the details of the exhibition and artist's reception that is taking place this Sunday!
