This is one of several paintings completed in 2013 and life got ahead of me, so it was never shared here. This week and next, I am going to be going posting paintings that are complete and have never been introduced to you...

I still remember the excitement I had when working on this piece. I wanted to paint these flowers and only had a short time before I had to return to caring for Naomi. She and her Papa were out having a daddy-daughter day, and they were due home any moment. The creative spirit caught me, and this painting just came into being. I love the loose brushstrokes and the color transitions within the deep purples, where some purples are a warm maroon and other areas shift to a midnight blue-violet.

To me, a painting really sings when the color notes are defined but the transitions are subtle.
